City Univ., BPP and College of Law

Craig

hi Everyone

I have been accepted for CPE/Graduate Diploma in Law(Conversion programme) at 'City University', 'BPP' and 'College of Law' in London.

While accepting offers, students are allowed to accept place in just one College .

All students who have done GDL, LPC or BVC programmes in either of the three places, please could you let me know of your experiences and which is the best place among the three to do your CPE/GDL and LPC or BVC programme.

Considering once you start your GDL, you would end up spending 2 years in the same place so choosing the right College to do Law becomes really important( besides spending close to 20,000 pounds just by way of fees alone i.e. approx 7000 for GDL + 10 to 12000 for LPC or BVC.

So I would request all past and present students of either City Univ, BPP and College of Law to please share their experiences on this forum.

Many Thanks

I can't really comment on the London branch, but I attended the College of Law in York on the LPC and loved the experience. I felt like we had a lot support and resources available to us and I believe my two housemates who did the GDL felt similiarly... but like I say that was the York branch, not London.

Hope it helps a little at least!

I would be careful here in recommending the LLB and MBA titles as a reason to go for BPP or the College. It is unclear how these titles play out with the law firm's particularly how the LLB title will play. An LLB is usually a three some times a two-year period when you do nothing but substantive law. That is not what the College LLB represents-and the Law Firms know that.

One piece of advice I would give is generally think not of the specific title you may get think what the law firms will make of it.

At City we have taken a different approach we simply offer the toughest CPE programme in the country. Its not easy and its a tonne of work but you will know a lot of law by the end. Interestingly when we go round law firms and discuss our tough assault course CPE we get a very positive response from the firms.
