Sorry, i am a bit confused over here. How to define BoGS? Awaiting decision by the Board?
The consensus seems to be that if your status on CamSIS is "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies" you have been BoGSed.
There is also, apparently, an "Awaiting consideration by the Board of Graduate Studies" status which an MCL applicant in this thread received before they were rejected.
It is unclear whether anyone who has been BoGSed has ever been rejected, it seems from this thread and from previous years as if everyone who received an "Application Unsuccessful" status was at the "Awaiting consideration..." stage.

As far as I can tell it changed directly from "Awaiting consideration by Department" to "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies." i received mine earlier on but i have just been informed that i was rejected from my first choice college... i'm assuming college selection is merits-based and i wonder what would happen if i get rejected by both choices, or worse, by all the colleges?

You don't need to be anxious about that! I remember reading somewhere on the Cambridge website that if given an offer, then you'll definitely get admission in a college even if not the ones you chose. Also, congratulations on getting in!
