did applications get moved to the degree committee?

Don't mean to cause any confusion, from what I understood the next step was for the degree committee to sit on the applications, hence.

Good morning all,

Thank you for nice comments. Interview is in 6 hours.!

I just saw this relating to teaching strikes at university. I wonder if this is the reason for the backlog?

I don't think the admissions committee strikes, it is just the academics who do so. Good luck for your interview!

gosh the waiting is simply a torture.
My external funding source urges me to get the admission result by March 6. I wrote to the Faculty of Law last time and they refer me to the weblink saying that all decisions will be made by March 1. But I'm starting to doubt whether cam can make it by the deadline...

I don't know whether contacting them again for the same issue will appear impolite or impatient.

What makes you think the admissions committee is not compiled of academics?

I will confess I am ignorant of the inner workings of the admission process. But I have seen that the Director of the LLM and directors of other law courses of Cambridge are mostly constituted of academics who teach and supervise.

If it is the case that the admission committee is constituted of academics, it would seem plausible that they don't do admission work while on strike.

As to my knowledge, Cambridge usually respects the March 1 deadline. Nonetheless, read between the lines:  However, it may take further time before you receive formal notification from the Postgraduate Admissions Office via your self-service account." As far as I know, this is the general situation, so even if the decision is made by March 1, it is unlikely to receive it by then, you should expect several days of delay. I know this doesn't help much, but unfortunately this is the normal course.

You may be right, but I think if decisions were to be delayed for any reason, they would have updated the LLM website like they did for the MCL. Also, PhD applicants have been getting deisions on strike days and I am sure if their admissions committee is comprised of academics, ours would too. It is very unlikely the strikes affect the admissions committee.

Based on last year’s thread I would think that 4pm GMT tomorrow there will be a lot of people moved to “Awaiting approval by PAO”

I have thought of doing so, but I did not find the number of the admission team online. Seems the website only disclosed contact number of the pg office but they are absolutely unsure of the evaluation process in every faculty.

There’s a number for the law department itself but not sure if they’d have the info
