Still awaiting consideration but got an offer from Oxford

Weird, I have the opposite (offer from Cambridge, but in my case a rejection from Oxford). I thought that if you can make it to the one, you can make it to the other as well. I guess I was wrong.

Both are equally tough to get it. Although I think Oxford a little more.

Hey guys!

I received an email last night from the Wolfson College (my first choice, btw) that I got accepted! The change in the CAMSIS follwed accordingly...

cheers!

I also got into Wolfson, which was my first choice. I never put much effort into picking a college and I cannot remember what were my reasons for choosing this one. Does anybody know if Wolfson is any good? This ranking made me worry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tompkins_Table

No problem here pal, the list is related to undergraduate studies whereas Wolfson is a graduate college:) and according to several LLM candidates currently there, one of the best places to be in Cambridge. Apparently, the rooms, the library and the pub are the best there is and the whole college was recently redecorated through a huge endowment of some Singaporean, Mister Lee... all of the people who got enrolled there would go again, after seeing all the other colleges:D...

Also accepted by Cambridge and rejected by Oxford.

According to Camsis I've been accepted by Jesus College - however I haven't recieved an email confirmation, although I think the acceptance came through on Camsis a few days ago. I can't remember if Jesus was my first choice for college (I guess it doesn't matter anymore)....but I also didn't recieve any rejection emails/notification for any other college.

Tried to contact Ms. Wade to get ANY information on my application and it keeps going to voice mail. Has anyone else tried to contact her or someone at cambridge? The Department refuses to give me any consideration and I need some closure :D

Mine still says "Seeking College membership". Should there be some kind of indications regarding the colleges who are reviewing my application? To be honest, I don't remember which was my priority but I think it was Trinity (no rejection received).

Reveiced an offer from Oxford today, but I will accept Cambridge's. Still need to secure funding, though. Everything is still in the Balance.

I was also accepted into Trinity Hall today. I wanted to go to a nice old one and marked it as my first priority rather arbitrary from about 5-6 suggestions. Of course, Trinity would have been even nicer, but it seems it payed off not to waste the first priority on it and receive the inevitable rejection.

What do you guys know about Trinity Hall. What is it's reputation compared to others. What are their facilities like and do they have sufficient accomondations for their graduate students?

Plenty of reviews in the forums, do search around.

According to what I have read here, it does have a somewhat bad reputation among some people, but a person I know who went there said it was nonetheless the best year of his life.

Guys, to be honest - despite being one of the people who did research colleges prior to applying and actually got into the college of first choice - I really do not see what the fuss is all about.

You will be doing an LLM at one of the most prestigious law schools in the world (top 3 or top 5) and become a member of one of its colleges. Every college at the University of Cambridge is good - tradition, reputation and orientation are nothing more than slight nuances that matter to inner circles of law society in England (similar to fraternities in USA) as connecting and networking factor. However, the vibrant academic community in Cambridge, notwithstanding the college you are in, is something that will surround for the better part of the upcoming academic year. Additionally, the differences in college are of relevance to a certain extent for undergrads but not for LLM students...

I am wishing you all the best of luck with admission to a college of first choice but do not fret too much about it...

Cheers

Hi. Can anyone please help me with this.

Kindly excuse my ignorance but I am really pathetic at this. My CAMSIS shows 'conditional offer made' and 'seeking college membership'. So in order to be considered further for college, do I have to accept my offer? Or would I be automatically considered and I am at the liberty to accept it post-allotment of college. I am extremely sorry for putting up this stupid question, just that I have no clue about it.

Hello Everyone,

my status changed to the common "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies" over the last weekend, but now it says "Application awaiting approval by BGS". I've only once heard that in this thread by Poiuytrewq, who didn't follow up on whether or not he/she got in. I'm quite nervous now, did anyone see this happening before? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know - many people who got offers and college placements are still waiting to decide where to go and what to do - so the answer to your question is no, you do not have to accept the offer in order to be accepted at the college.

Good luck to those still waiting!
