I consider gumtree to be the best website for rooms to rent...even though u have to pay attention to some kind of announces which are fake and they ask u to send money via western union to book your room...
I suggest you not using agencies, I think they just steal money and u can find affordable rooms searching by yourself...in 10 days I have visited a lot of houses and found lots of opportunities....
with regards to the neighborhoods a lot depends on how much you want to spend
Any one received LSE offer?

Here is a website that my friend (and her friends) used to use for finding flats for rent, you can search for flats using postcodes:
http://www.findaproperty.com/
Her advise: Generally, you want to avoid East London, anywhere beyond Whitechapel is quite rough (E1 and onwards). For LSE (and other nearby schools) the first choices would be:
Kensington (W8)
South Kensington/Gloucester Road (SW5)
Knightbridge/South Kensington (SW7)
My friend has stayed in Kensington for all the 5 years she spent in London, definitely the best area to live in, its close to hyde park and this is also where you find all the museums.
Good for shopping, clean and you don't generally find suspicious looking black or drunk guys even after dark.
Second choices:
St John's Wood (NW8)
Notting Hill (W11)
Marylebone (NW1)
Hope this helps.

I'll try to gather two or three more people to rent a flat. I think renting a flat is cheaper that renting a dorm from LSE. Hope to see you there in september.

totally agree...I lived in south ken for 3 months, awesome area, very quiet and safe...I definetely reccommend it

What about Bloomsbury? Wouldn't it be closer to LSE?
Posted May 19, 2012 03:28
Good recommendation Fedeviola. I'm planing to be there in september in order to walk around and know the city (or the part around LSE). Do you know how many people (aprox) are accepted in the LLM?
Posted May 19, 2012 12:18
Bloomsbury is fine.
I think there will be 220 people in the LLM or slightly more

Hi all,
Due to the cost of living in London, I was wondering if it could make sense trying to find a part-time internship while undertaking the llm at LSE.
Does anyone know (i) whether the LL.M programme at LSE (full-time) contemplates the possibility of doing a part-time internship while completing the llm; and (ii) for those who have done the llm, can you comment the workload of the programme and whether there is enough time to work part-time while studying.
Thanks again
Thanks

Hello to all!
I am goingo to LSE in September. Is there a facebook group for the LSE-LLM program? It would be nice to start to know each other... I just received my offer for housing and it's very expensive, so I will be looking for a room to rent. I thought that maybe it'll be better to share a flat with other LLM students.

I agree with you regarding flatsharing with other llm students.
I think the new facebook group is the following:

I'm also interested in flatsharing. Let's keep in touch so perhaps we can do it together.

As I submitted my application for accommodation two days ago, perhaps it could be helpful to inform me the cost of the offer they made to you, if you don't bother of course!!
Thanks

People, Any one received the CAS number?

hey, athina! I did not want to share a room, so I asked for an en-suite room in an apartment or a studio. I was offered a studio in Tower Bridge, a new condo that opens in sept. 2012. From the pictures it looks great, but the cost was 299 pounds per week. I asked if I could change the room I was assigned to, but they told me I would have to contact LSE accommodation office... but it's still pricy: 229 pds/week for a en-suite room in a 6-rooms shared flat or 199 pds/week a regular room.
So, I checked in a couple of boards and realized that you can find a room in a 4-room flat for around 600 pounds per month, utilities included. I figured this was a better option, even if I have to get to London before the date planned.
Hope this is useful!

lorrego,
no news on my CAS number yet. But I believe they would start sending them around this time so the whole thing should take a while.
Considering your local branch of HM Diplomatic corps this should make the following months somewhat interesting (to meet a setember deadline).
Anyone accepted into the Law and Accounting Programme?
My local LSE alumni association is very active and usually organizes meetings with all the brazilians prior to the beginning of classes, perhaps your national associations do the same (it is a great way to meet other students in the same situations).
Cheers!

Hi RCMartins,
It seems we will have to wait for a while until we get the CAS! In Peru, the last year LSE organized a meeting (it was in July I think) among all those who had offers in order to meet each others before traveling to UK, so it seems I will have to wait until that meeting to jnow the people who will be traveling to UK..
Cheers!

Thank you chixiri! I received an offer in Sidney Webb, but it does not include the price for the room.I send them an email in order to ask them if it is possible to decline this offer and submit a new application for another type of room!I don't know if it is possible!
Anyway I don't like this Hall so I think I have to search for a room or studio, but I am a little bit afraid...Is it easy to find a room/studio to rent on your own??

Hi Melina,
Thanks for creating the group. May I suggest we make this group a private one and specifically for 2012-2013 intake? I hope by doing this we will have more open discussions and sharing between those decided to go to LSE this Sept.
Best,

Hi!
It is a nice suggestion, would it be better if I changed the title of the page or only the description?

Hi Melina,
Maybe both. And you may want to change the settings to make it "private" so only those asked to join will be able to see and post messages.
