I am currently in the last year of my LLB degree and wish to undertake an LLM degree in a UK university. However, because the results of my first two years didnt count towards the weighting of my degree I partied hard and didnt achieve particularly good results. Will this greatly affect my chances when it comes to applying or will this years results which will be at least 2:1 standard, possibly even a 1st class hons be enough to gain me a place.

Thanks

Your final result will be the most important, I think. Also the reputation of your present university will be important.

Anyway, just try, and see what happens. At the most, you'll just lose the time you spent trying to finish up on the applications (which may be about a few days).

You need a 2:1 overall degree. Will you graduate with at least upper second class honours? This is the minimum conditional requirements for the top 10 law schools in the UK. I am also a final year LLB from Australia and already got a conditional offer from Nottingham about 6 months ago (condition, a 2:1 Hons degree). Will apply to Edinburgh soon. For Cambridge and Oxford you need a first class honours.

Speak with the selection officer and ask. They may take account of your recent marks.

as far as i know, only oxford requires first class, 67% should be sufficient to satisfy the academic requirement of cambridge..

and some unis even accept third class students, eg, leicester uni... this year, there was a hong kong graduate with a third class degree got the offer from leicester..
