Hi,
Did anyone take the IBT Toefl test (next generation toefl with a speaking section) for the 2006 application ?
Hello!
I tried to do a free test which was available on the www.TOEFL.ORG site: I did the reading section which was just enormous and something else (I do not remember now). Unfortunately, I didn't manage to complete the test (some tech. problems with the site). However, now I know how the new TOEFL looks like. :) Think you should visit the mentioned site and look if the free test is still available. Good luck!
P.S. I know nothing about speaking section. Sorry.

I have taken the CBT. I think most of the LLM applicants to the 2006 Program will have taken the CBT (in some cases PBT), since IBT was first administered only in September and only in the US, at first.

I've taken the IBT a few weeks ago. My score: 109/120.
I can't tell if the IBT is any harder than previous test formats. I haven't taken the CBT or PBT. Yet from my experience it wasn't easy.
It is more a problem of concentration than language abilities.
The test took about 4 hours. It started at 6 pm and lasted therefore until 10 pm. In my opinion much too late in the day.
The worst thing about it was the speaking part, although I consider myself a good speaker.
1. I was in a computer lab together with about 30 people. All of a sudden everyone starts speaking. It's hard to concentrate on your own stuff.
2. The questions are very vague. You have 15 seconds to prepare your answer and 45 seconds to talk. It's hard to come up with a good answer to an imprecise question.
