Hello, Kishore. I came from Brazil and am now a LLM student at the University of Ottawa's Law and Technology Program, in Canada. Next October I will begin my Doctoral Studies at the University of Oxford, UK.
As I did not want to go to the US (where I would consider Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard and Yale), some institutions I considered when applying for the LLM were:
- University of Ottawa (of course);
- Osgoode Hall, York University;
- University of Oxford;
- University of Edinburgh;
- University of Glasgow/Strathclyde;
- Queen Mary College, University of London;
- University of Leuven;
- University of Amsterdam.
All those are outstanding places if you want to concentrate in ICT. However, if you want a more IP focused, but still outstanding place I would still add McGill University's Centre for Intellectual Property Policy.
In the end, as I had done previous contacts with potential supervisors in here and they were very receptive, I decided to save some money and only applied for the University of Ottawa.
It turned to be really an incredible opportunity. I learned a lot, have many doors open in the way ahead, and strongly recommend our Law & Technology Program.
Cheers.
