I have had my first refereed article published in a law journal this year. To my surprise, an academic from a university to which I would like to apply has also been published in that very same edition - my article starts where his ends.
Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but, would it be wise of me to take some positive action? For instance, letting the university know they are my first preference and that I also happen to be published alongside one of their researchers/academics? I'm a 21 year old undergraduate so I am still quite in the dark in relation to how much weight this may have on my application, if any.
Not sure what to do in this situation, and, whether I should do anything at all. I was very happy to get published but then to see an academic from one of my top pick LLM universities published right next to me was very pleasing.
Can any of you with more university experience kindly lend a guiding hand in relation to this matter? What would you do?

since u asked for a personal opinion..ill give u mine...
i think that mentioning that ur article got published in such a such journal would be suffice...if the journal is as good as u say..they will definitely be aware of its standards..n this will be a plus point on your application!!

Thanks for your reply. I was just unsure of whether it would be beneficial to take any positive action. I also think simply stating this in my application will suffice - again, thanks for your message.
