PIL LLM - Career Prospect!?

sdj2014

hi all, i've been admitted to the public international law advanced LLM programme at leiden :) soooo excited!

but then i'm also a little concerned with the career prospect post-master...someone mentioned on this board that it is hard even to get an internship at the hague, not to mention a job at all. and i'm not from the EU/UK so i suppose i am limited by my visa when finding work. so i'm really worried...

so can anyone who has done the master share your experience? what kind of job r u doing and does the LLM help?

I will be graduating this year from this programme.
It all depends on your passion towards PIL, if that is the only thing you want to do - go for it. If you want to be rich.. meh.. maybe go for something else.
What I can tell you for sure is that everyone from my class who wished to intern (during the studies) got an internship, especially in the international tribunals, unpaid of course.
Regarding the visa you shall not worry, after graduation The Netherlands would grant you a visa for another year, so you could find an employer, which will have to apply for your permit for the 3rd year.
pm me for more details

I did this program 3 years ago. The career prospects in this field are close to 0. I was unemployed for 2 years after graduation and now I work in corporate law.
