This is a review of the program from the points of lectures, lecturers, support and environment.
Well strucutred lectures
Lectures are well-structured, with a focus on foundational IP and IT laws in the EU during the winter semester. This establishes a solid understanding through case study activities. Some redundancy may occur due to the interconnectedness of these laws, but it provides varied perspectives, contributing to a comprehensive understanding. In the summer semester, practical applications are emphasized, allowing students to leverage knowledge gained. Once in a while, you may find it intense but you can really immerse yourself in the study of IP and IT laws on the other hand. You get to choose the classes you want to attend and thus you get to manage your schedule.
International lecturers with a diverse background
Lecturers are not only from academia but also from practice and based in various countries. They deliver lectures based on the latest studies and practical experiences. They are also willing to give you advice on your career regardless of whether it is in academia or practice.
Support from the program and university
You can get support from the program and the university, covering a wide range of topics encountered during studies. In general, people at the university are genuinely supportive and you can find support whenever you need it.
The program office aids students throughout their studies and thesis, organizing trips and events. The university and affiliated organizations host language exchanges, parties, and career fairs. You can easily find the information at the university or on social media and enjoy many events with your classmates. Career services offer individual consultations and online sessions on job search strategies, CV reviews and the German job market.
University city
Depending on where you come from, some find Göttingen small and some may not. I found it was the perfect city to concentrate on my study. It is not a big city but you can find everything (cafes, bars, shops, libraries etc) you need easily. You don't have to spend much time on the way. As there are many international students, many people at city halls, banks and other places speak English. The university facilities are well maintained. The university canteens offer a wide variety of foods including vegan and vegetarian options at a reasonable price. There are many libraries all over the city as well.
Overall I am very satisfied with the program considering the purpose I joined and the experiences and can recommend this program if you are considering it.
