Leuven vs. Ghent vs. VUB

sabiss

Hi everyone.

This September I will be studying LL.M. in Belgium. I have approvals from K.U. Leuven, Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB).

I've been to Brussels many times and I know the city well. Also I've seen Leuven and Ghent too. Especially as for the reputations of the schools and the advantages of the cities I need your recommandations.

Also, I would be very glad if students of these universities can give advices to me.

Thanks all.

As a former student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and now a European Commission official, I can only say that the LL.M. at the VUB's Institute for European Studies (IES) is a well-known top programme (with 40 years of experience). The IES is a recognized Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. Courses are high quality, by expert professors, many of them working at the EU and other international institutions. Graduates are at the EU (even at Director General level), the IMF, WTO and many prestigious law firms throughout the world. No reason to hesitate. Really!!!

I am a current student at the IES studying for an LLM in International and European law. I can't but recommend the quality of the teaching to prospective students. We've had heads of DGs, well known EU career officials, academics who have published widely, and head of units at the EU Council as lecturers. They were all fantastic, very knowledgeable and dedicated to lecturing which is apparent from them fitting in lectures with work schedules. Similarly the running and admin of the course goes smoothly and IES staff are always willing to lend a hand and help you along. I'd heartily recommend it!
