From info in OGEMID and young OGEMID, they expected a lot of applicants. I heard the possibility existed to assist only to specific modules, as if they were conferences, and the number of places offered for 2008-2009 was "sold out" in about two hours, counting from the moment the "offer" was made in OGEMID. I haven't seen a similar offer for 2009, but would expect about the same thing.

Don't know if this is really telling, because I would not expect there beeing more than, say, 10 places for "listeners".

My spouse and I, are both admitted to MIDS.
Does anyone have any information on availability of financial aid? It seems that it is very limited if any. anyway I hope we would see each other soon!

Its called Master of Advanced Studies, what its equivalent to an LLM. I applied for the program for 2010, I heard last year have around 300 applications and for 2010 they expect more! And classes are around 30... so let see which are my chances!

Hey guys,

From this post it seems quite apparent that some of you would have secured the Masters from MIDS. I have been offered admission there (applicant from India) and before I accept, I was wondering if you could be kind enough to answer some of my queries:

i. What is the system of aid? Now that I have received an admission offer, should I send them an email requesting for aid?Their website simply says to contact them on email regarding aid.

ii. While it is beyond doubt that the Program has exceptional faculty, does that really lead to anything concrete in terms of job opportunities upon completion of the Program? Do the professors offer jobs to the students of the Program?

iii. How reputed is the program? Is it well appreciated in Geneva? While I understand this would be difficult to gauge considering that only one batch of students is actually "in the market", what is the general review of the Program?

Are any job fairs/placements conducted? How easy is it to get a job in an international law firm situated in Geneva? What about internships in the WTO?

I have to convey my acceptance soon, so guys, please respond as soon as you can!

You are on the wrong track Tanya. LLMs don't get you jobs in international law firms without being registered to practice in some jurisdiction in Europe or America or a place where these firms may have offices.

The only international law firm jobs that india qualified LLM graduates can expect to land in UK is the 'India Practice Group' of these firms. And beleive me its better to work In India in a small firm than land up in IPG even at Freshfields.

Please do your research properly and don't go for an LLM at all with the hope that you will land up a job in an intnl firm. It's not happening and after investing it will be a terrible disappointment.

Hey, I also received an offer! I also applied to LSE, but haven't heard back yet. However I've only heard positive feed-back about the MIDS Program so far, so I'm actually quite excited to start in Geneva :) I've created a group for the class of '11 at Geneva on facebook. Thought it would be great to get to know everyone planning to come next year ;)
