Do you maybe know how many scholarships they provide on average?

No, I haven’t heard anything yet. I applied for the non scholarship track LLM in IHL and Human Rights.

Edit: I received and accepted my offer this morning (1 Feb).

Was the Academy your first choice? Did you apply to any other Universities as well?
I'm quite confused about my choice and would love an opinion from a peer!

The Academy was my first choice. I actually did not apply to any other schools - I've been working in professional roles post my LL.B for ~5 years so I wasn't going to go back to grad school unless I was able to take this programme. As far as I can tell it looks to be one of the best programmes in the world for international humanitarian law. I believe there are better programmes for a human rights speciality, but I am specifically interested in the interplay between the two disciplines and how these apply in the field.

Geneva is also really expensive and doesn't seem all that lively as a city.

Awesome! Job prospects I’m not entirely sure, again looking at previous years it looks like graduates have gone onto ICRC / research / UN posting roles. Personally I’ve lived in the downtown core of major cities for the past 8 years and I’m looking forward to a slightly quieter Geneva experience!

Do you have any idea whether they contact with the referees or not?


Hi Zeba!!!! I am assuming they don't contact the referees because mine didn't tell me they had been, whereas in the case of other applications they did. But both my references were scanned copied of signed and stamped letterhead paper by my University Professors in Durham, so that may also be why. Are you expecting your to be contacted? In any case, I think if you emailed Geneva and asked they would probably tell you.

Just found a recent update on FB:
"We will consider late applications for our #MAS in #TransitionalJustice, #HumanRights and the #RuleofLaw until 15 March!"

Just got my offer now.. Full scholarship!! I am so thankful to God!!!
