GENEVA ACADEMY 2019/2020 ADMISSIONS

Hi everyone
I also applied for Master of Advanced Studies in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law (with scholarship). Can't wait to get the news...
I think, they are starting sending the offers for those on scholarship track in March...
Do you maybe know how many scholarships they provide on average?

It varies by the year. The 2018/2019 set have 91 students, 27 of which are on scholarship. Click below for more details

Hey Zeba F.

No, I haven’t heard anything yet. I applied for the non scholarship track LLM in IHL and Human Rights.

Edit: I received and accepted my offer this morning (1 Feb).

Hey! I just got accepted to the Geneva Academy as well!
Was the Academy your first choice? Did you apply to any other Universities as well?
I'm quite confused about my choice and would love an opinion from a peer!

Hey Prashasti, congratulations on your offer!

The Academy was my first choice. I actually did not apply to any other schools - I've been working in professional roles post my LL.B for ~5 years so I wasn't going to go back to grad school unless I was able to take this programme. As far as I can tell it looks to be one of the best programmes in the world for international humanitarian law. I believe there are better programmes for a human rights speciality, but I am specifically interested in the interplay between the two disciplines and how these apply in the field.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks a lot! I am really excited.

Do you have any idea about the job prospects in Geneva after the program? I'm considering choosing between Leiden University and Geneva Academy.
Geneva is also really expensive and doesn't seem all that lively as a city.

Best of luck to everyone applying![/quote]

Awesome! Job prospects I’m not entirely sure, again looking at previous years it looks like graduates have gone onto ICRC / research / UN posting roles. Personally I’ve lived in the downtown core of major cities for the past 8 years and I’m looking forward to a slightly quieter Geneva experience!

Yes, that's kind of the main advantage of the LLM from Geneva, it has a good connection with the ICRC. I was hoping to look for jobs at the ICJ/ICC and other tribunals. I suppose I can move to the Netherlands after.
But I'm waiting for the decision from Leiden before accepting Geneva's offer.

Guys any updates on scholarship track??

Hi AG,
nothing yet. Please let me know if you get any update regarding the scholarship.

Hi Zeba,
Sure I shall. However, It is evident that the academy sends scholarship offers by the beginning of March. Will pass the time until that. Wish you and all of others the best of luck on their prospects.
Thanks.

Hi Zeba!!!! I am assuming they don't contact the referees because mine didn't tell me they had been, whereas in the case of other applications they did. But both my references were scanned copied of signed and stamped letterhead paper by my University Professors in Durham, so that may also be why. Are you expecting your to be contacted? In any case, I think if you emailed Geneva and asked they would probably tell you.

Best of luck!
