GENEVA ACADEMY 2019/2020 ADMISSIONS

Hi, I wish to apply for the program via scholarship track. However, I don’t have any idea about accommodations. Your kind recommendations are highly appreciated . Thanks in advance.

Have you completed your application? Did you receive any confirmation or offer of placement?

I am a graduate of the '18 LLM class and I'll happily answer anyone's questions about the programme etc

Hi.
I have a few questions. Please bear with me. :')

1. The timeline on the website shows that those who applied under the scholarship track would be notified in April. Is there any possibility that they might inform us earlier? Is there a rolling basis or do they start checking the applications after the deadline?

2. How many full time scholarships do they offer?

3. Does applying at the last day reduce the chances of getting a scholarship?

4. The website says that the deadline is on 1st February, whereas the flyer says 31st Jan. Which one is more reliable? Is 1st Feb the deadline or 31st Jan?

1. I think non-scholarship candidates were reviewed and notified on a rolling basis, check the thread posted above

2. You can find the numbers in their annual reports https://www.geneva-academy.ch/the-academy/about-us/annual-reports

3. I dont think so, but would not give you a definite answer

4. I'm sure the admissions office can clarify that

Hey Zeba F.

No, I haven’t heard anything yet. I applied for the non scholarship track LLM in IHL and Human Rights.

Edit: I received and accepted my offer this morning (1 Feb).

Oh wow this is sooooooooo great! congratulations to you ❤️ hey, do you mind telling me what you wrote in your personal statement and motivation letter? Even though I've already submitted mine, I'm scared to death whether they'd like mine or not! I was wondering maybe I could have an idea what they like by having a look at your responses.

Hey Zeba, thanks! The Academy was my first choice so I’m wicked excited.

In my personal statement I spoke about how I became interested in IHL, why I believe the Geneva Academy is best placed for me personally, and what I plan to do once I graduate.

In past years they’ve offered places on a rolling basis, so hold tight. I know the wait is agonising!

Hey Zeba! Similarly to Aaron44 I wrote about how the course links to my current university education, interests and future career aspirations. I mentioned which modules I am interested in etc and why I fit the course. That's about it I think. Nothing to original :-)

Best of luck!

Hi everyone
I also applied for Master of Advanced Studies in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law (with scholarship). Can't wait to get the news...
I think, they are starting sending the offers for those on scholarship track in March...
Do you maybe know how many scholarships they provide on average?

It varies by the year. The 2018/2019 set have 91 students, 27 of which are on scholarship. Click below for more details

Hey! I just got accepted to the Geneva Academy as well!
Was the Academy your first choice? Did you apply to any other Universities as well?
I'm quite confused about my choice and would love an opinion from a peer!

Hey Prashasti, congratulations on your offer!

The Academy was my first choice. I actually did not apply to any other schools - I've been working in professional roles post my LL.B for ~5 years so I wasn't going to go back to grad school unless I was able to take this programme. As far as I can tell it looks to be one of the best programmes in the world for international humanitarian law. I believe there are better programmes for a human rights speciality, but I am specifically interested in the interplay between the two disciplines and how these apply in the field.

Hope to see you there!
