I've got an offer from De Key (Funenpark).
By the way, people who need mvv (visa), do you have news on this issue? One month left and no news:(

Hello to all of you! I was also admitted to ALS and was granted MTEC scholarship. Few days ago the housing agency DUWO sent me a mail informing me that I could rent a room in Goudriaanstraat 21, but without telling me anything about the price, the number of people with whom I will be sharing facilities, etc. Does anybody of you know some details about this and if it's possible to reject this offer and look for a room on your own?

Hi Andreas! So we are almost neighbours. I am staying at Goudriaanstraat 13-4.
I asked the agency about this accomodation and, concerning mine, they said it is a 3-room appartment, everyone their own room, kitchen/bathroom shared.
I also talked to some people I know in Amsterdam and they said this is a pretty cool location.
See this link to get an idea about the neighbourhood: http://www.watergraafsmeer.net/Straten/Straten/Goudriaanstraat.html
I was a bit sad cause I wanted to be in a dorm and in the centre, but this will be fine too:)
About the price - I asked DUWO about this as well, but they responded I have to check with the faculty.
Did you get your plane tickets yet?
Where are you from, Andreas?
Greets...

Oh, about rejecting the offer. The thing is that the contract we got states we MUST accept the accomodation we are offered.
It is extremely difficult to find a room on your own, but I am also pretty confident that if one relaly dislikes his/her accomodation it can be changed.

Hello Blossom. I also contacted the DUWO agency and they gave me almost the same reply. I was pretty sure that we have to accept the offer, as it is one of the conditions for scholarship. As for renting room on my own it's not problem for me cause I have a lot of people in Dam that could help. As the matter of fact they already started looking for a room, but now I have to cancel all of this. And for location, I'm citizen of Serbia and live now there.

Sorry I forgot about plane tickets. I contacted UvA and they told me that they have reserved an airline ticket for August 29th, but I don't know when and where I shall go to pick that ticket.

So, you will move to a different room? How does that relate to this offer, you would still have to pay the rent.
For now, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this turns out to be a cool place.
P.S. I'm from Slovenia.

Well I don't realy know what to do. I think I would contact the UvA to find out is it possible to rent a room on my own. Well for the accomodation I searched a bit about it and that part of the city is the better one. Even I found our location on GoogleEarth it seems quite interesting. And for the pictures try searching on www.flickr.com for watergraafsmeer. I found some pictures of our residential buildings and they seem quite nice.

IP which accomodation did you get?
I am curious because I am wondering whether they placed all MTEC Scholarship holders in the same venue.

2Andreas,
I've asked if it would be possible find a room on my own but I was reminded that I need to accept agency offer.
As far as I know Serbian citizens also need visa, have you already got it?

To Juan.
My Contact is A. Piloo; she should be in her office because I got an email from her last week. Other contact is Ms. verheij and Ms. Vogel, but I think that's just for the MTEC.
Check the webpage and write to someone else.
But in general you shouldn't worry, I think. Sometimes they let you know just like 2 weeks before the start. Or you can contact De Key directly, maybe that's even the best option.

Thnxxx for the information about accomodation. I will have to accept their offer. And concerning visa, I'm waiting for Embassy to call me to pick up the visa. At the begining of July they told me that it will be some 4 weeks from then, but I haven't received any invitation from the Embassyyet. By the way Estrella which citizenship do you have?

Çäðàâî Andreas, I'm from Kyiv, Ukraine.

Hey, everybody
I have got my offer (long time ago now) from DeKey. My address is Stavangerweg 351, 1013 AX AMSTERDAM.
Blossom, obviously they did not put all the MTEC scholars at the same building.
Andreas,
I have my apartment in Stavangerweg. It is 3.7 km. to the faculty. As far as the information on the DeKey web site is correct - I will have private room, private kitchen and private bath. All this sounds very good, but I have all my friends which got an offer for Goudriaanstraat. I have contacted the DeKey and the UvA and asked if it is possible to change the accommodation. They said pretty much the same its extremely difficult, but I was given this advice to wait until we are all there, to check out both places and then to try to find a solution. Why I am saying all this If I decide that I like Goudriaanstraat more because I will be closer to the people I know and if you decide that you like Stavangerweg more which has private facilities we could exchange our housings. What do you think about this? You can contact me on tanya_yaneva@yahoo.com
With regard to the MVVs and visas nothing yet.
Looking forward to see you all in Amsterdam.
Best regards to all.

Hi everybody!
I was aslo admitted to the LLM International and European Law- coming to Amsterdam at 22-08 and- looking forward to meeting you all there.
Is anyone of you going to apply for the Insurance Passport for Students, because I want to be covered under IPS but they require my student registration number which I don't know. I have only confirmed my participation to the program to Ms Oosterom about a month ago and since then I haven't received any letter concerning the registration procedure. I try to contact them for the last week but no reply. Has anyone received a registration student number or a student card? I don't know also how and till when I should pay the tuition fee.
If anyone could give me some information it would be very helpful since time for departure is coming:-)
Greetings from Greece
