Hello,
Yes ... all law schools in the NL are pretty close in terms of reputation, it just depends on which one offers a particular course that is best for you:
Leiden, Amsterdam, Groniongen, Utrecht, Maastricht are all about equal.

Hi I need help. I thought that the LLM International and European Law was a LLM which includes 4 modules, European business law, international trade, public international law, and European Union law. But, as I have seen in your post, this is not true, isnt it? My problem is the following. In the application form, there is a step where one have to choose the specialization, and I chose the 4 specializations!! I did not know that there is a particular LLM for each specialization. What should I do know? Is correct what I did? Should I call and say that I want the EU Law specialization for example? Thank very much. I need help ASAP.

Hi,
The LLM is called Internation and European Law but you then have to pick one 'track': Either EU Business Law, Int. Trade law ect ect. You cannot do all of them (each on is a complete master programme) so I would advise you to call the Law School and explain your misunderstanding.
Hope this helps and let me know how it goes! Maybe see you in Adam later this year...

Hi everyone!
Has anyone heard of or know anyone who is in the new Int'l Criminal Law program? (joint by Amsterdam and Columbia U)
Also, do you know whether upon graduation you'll have both unis' names in the diploma?

Ok thanks a lot, 3 weeks it is fine. One think I did not get it about the application form is why do they limit the personal statements to 100 words?? It does not make sense at all
Where are you from by the way?

I am from England and I also do not understand why this was limited to 100 words. I suppose to see just how consicely the applicants can write - seems a little silly to me as one cannot write anything of substance with such a small word count.
And you? Your from...??

Hi 1983! I have got admission in Amsterdam but I am not going to accept it. I prefer going to for a UK University. So far I have got admission in Nottingham Trent University, which offers a LLM that only deals with CORPORATE. To my eyes the LLM Amsterdam is very general, you don t really get specialized in anything since is focus on company, markets, freedoms I am waiting Manchester,Durham,Frankfurt and The University of Nottingham.
Currently I am working in Delhi whose experience will be followed by an internship in Singapore.
I am from Spain.

Hi there Colorado!
I am from Spain too. I am considering to study in Amsterdam or Tilburg, mainly due to its price (way cheaper than the LLM's from the UK). Anyway, I would study there straight from finishing my LLB so I hope that wont be a problem.
By the way, could you maybe tell me your average grade (spanish grading system) so I can compare it to mine to see the real choices I have of entering the programs? I have an average grade of 'Notable', more or less something like 7-7.5 out of 10. In addition, I have some work experience (as an intern) which might be a plus. My toefl is enough (95ibt) and I speak German as well (that won't count probably)
Between Tilburg and Amsterdam, which one would you pick? I am afraid of the international reputation of Tilburg's, not because it's bad or anything, it's just because it's not that well known as Amsterdam's.
It would be useful to know the average age of the participants of both LLM's there, just in case 23 might be considered as 'too young'.
Many thanks
kind regards

Steel, my dear comrade: with regard to your queries I am bound to state the following:
a) With your grades you will be fine, is better enough. In fact my average is 6.5 (and I was accepted, but most probably because I am in India as a visiting lawyer), thus holding a 7-7.5 you have a lot of chances.
b) As I said in my earlier email, I will reject Amsterdam since is too general. Tilburg is a very good university, and the LLM courses are just brilliant. Is true that there is a lack of reputation but it does not really matter. The most important is how you performance your courses. Undoubtedly, Tilburg courses are much better and I guess to the eyes of the employer more attractive.
I guess you would like to pursue the International Business Law at Tilburg but do not forget that Tilburg is widely know for its Tax Courses.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your quick reply!
mm, there in India, are you advising on Spanish law? I mean, India is way too far from Spain. Are you working for a major international Law firm, or for a local one?
Anyway, I haven´t applied yet. I will have all my documents ready by the end of the month.
I am not very much into Tax LLM's so I will pass on your offer, heh
Take care

Hi,
I haven´t applied to any University yet...still have to gather all the documents required for the application. I guess I will have everything ready next week.
I am considering Tilburg, Amsterdam (uva) and Maastricht, though I am not sure about the special 'teaching system' of the last one.
Are you definitely going to the UK?
By the way, are you still in your 20's? Be sure to make the most of your stay there
Cheers

Yes I am going definitely to UK, Better education and prestigious as well as more protagonism in the international scene than The Netherlands. Also I prefer be taught by british professors rather than ducth profesors with a strong accent.
Indeed I am in my 20s, 24 big fella. Dude you should harry up with your applications, is quite late!

Hehe, then you are doing pretty fine.. You said you were in a major international law firm.. maybe in one of the so known 'magic circle'?
Anyway, you are really lucky to be able to do a secondment `so young`.
I was considering applying to some Unis in the UK. I looked into Warwick, Durham, and some other. I definitely forgot about Cambridge, Oxford, etc since their probably really high requirements.
It is late indeed for applications for the UK, not for the Universities of the Netherlands, since I have until June/July to apply, which is cool.
I may receive a call from one of the 'big 4' here in Madrid, for the tax department, so I am not sure yet where I will be next year.
Regards
