Guys, what goal are you looking to achieve by pursuing those Canadian LLM degrees if I may ask? I am a Canadian immigrant myself  who was admitted to CCL program at UBC but ended up leaving Canada later due to the situation on Canadian job market.

As far as I understand,  neither of the LLM degrees mentioned does  provide eligibility to sit for a bar exam in Canada, or  can be  recognized towards even a paralegal licensing requirements.  if you are looking to pursue a job in Canada that requires knowledge of intl business law but is  a non- regulated occupation, an LLM in Canada specifically will most likely be seen as an overqualification, same as a professional   law degree from abroad. In my experience, anything above B.Sc. is seen as such, even in jobs that have high shortage of skilled staff and even if you are that skilled candidate. Being a candidate with a  law degree in Canada is a synonym of overqualification too.I am aware that CCL LLM may provide access to look for articling positions and later take the bar exam for admission to law society of upper Canada. But i presume it is equally as tough as getting into a medical residency program in Canada for a  doctor with foreign credentials, which is virtually impossible.

This may not apply to everybody. I am looking at it from a perspective of an immigrant of a European descent, which in and of itself already puts me into a disadvantageous position as an applicant in Canada, due to the positive discrimination. 
But somebody of non-European origin or otherwise pertaining to protected groups may find Canadian job market  on the contrary very accommodating and welcoming.

Agreed - I don't know how an "LLM" adds any advantages in terms of sitting for a bar exam / actually get on track to practice law in Canada.

As far as I can see it, an LLM—or any other masters degree, really—just helps as leverage in terms of getting a work visa, and then also may help with networking. Many potential applicants may be looking to land a job that is 'law-related' but not practice law, so to speak. In this case my feeling is that most who do this—especially those who have been practicing law previously— would be taking a pay cut, given the relatively low incomes in Canada. 

I don't think it's fair to say that there is blanket discrimination against immigrants of European origin, this is not the experience of anybody who I've known who has made this kind of transition.
