I'm looking at doing my LLM in Canada, and I have narrowed my search down to McGill and UBC. I would do the Taxation program at UBC, and the general LLM at McGill due to lack of tax focus.
Thoughts on overall quality of the schools, locations, anything else?

McGill tends to outrank UBC in all of the major rankings, but they're close enough that I wouldn't say that there's a huge gap.
If the tax program at UBC appeals to you, then if I were you I would focus on that. The only caveat is that Vancouver is notoriously expensive; compared to Montreal it's practically night and day. Could be an issue if you are on a budget.

Hey, can I ask about which school you decided now? I'm prepping to do an LLM in Canada starting in 2016 and these schools are high on my list. I'm also considering U of T.
