Thanks vid.
I just spoke to Clelia :) She's really kind but she couldn't give a specific date. Besides, she told me my file will be sent this week to the comitee.. I don't understand, it was ready two months ago...She "thinks" a decision could be reached for the middle of may... I CAN'T WAIT! I think I should get a rope..
Actually, it is really late for immigration papers..
Where are you coming from btw?
When was your file completed? It's not curiosity, i just want to know if they hate me...
Bye for now..

I forgot to ask... I have excellent appraisal letters from canadian professors but I don't have outstanding results due to the grading system we use in Belgium (my average grade is 12/20...however, I was an exchange student at Université de Montréal, I took 4 courses and I got 3 A+ and 1 A). I've recently been accepted in Université de Montréal's LLM but i'm really worried for mcgill... does any1 know if it is really that tough to get in?
Ps: Julie and Vid, may the force be with you...

Hello ybenizri!
Yes, they are really nice at the admissions office. My file was also ready quite a while back. I was told that the files were being circulated for review. I think the amount of work being handled by the graduate admissions is pretty high. (It could be that the number of applicants this year is more than usual?)
Its true that Canadian law schools are pretty competitive and definitely more difficult to get into than the American ones, probably coz there are so few of them.
They recognize the difference in grading systems and am sure that if your professors have written out favourable letters thatll be used as an indicator to your potential as a graduate student. If you have already studied at Université de Montréal, then thats great and definitely a point in your favour! Hang in there, I am convinced McGill is worth the wait! :)
Cheers!

hi ybenizri,

Don't worry they might also have administrative problems. I don't know if they check all the reference, compare this and that...it takes time!

hello everybody~ I am new here. Fortunately, I have been admitted to Mcgill LLM program( non-thesis) for this fall term. I would like to make friends with Mcgill law students because I have a lot of questions about the new program. Is there anybody been accepted, too?

hi
im in my final year of LLB,external programme,by the university of london. i scored 2(2) in my second year which makes it a B-ve on canadian scale of grading. what are my chances of getting into some good university for LLM, such as McGill or Univ.of Toronto...
can anyone please list the names of the universities other than tier 1 if u think i dont have a chance
i dont have an experience as such but have interned with two law chambers for the duration of one month each. does that count?
would really appreciate ur response

Hi there,
I'm thinking about applying at a Canadian university. But how are your chances? Is it generally hard to get admitted? How is the competition? There hompages sound pretty harsh..

Thanks for your input

Hi..Have you applied anywhere? Can you share your experince with me about law education? Thanks already..

Hi, Seckin.

I would say that studying in Canada has an excellent cost-benefit. Less than 20 law schools, pretty much levelled with respect to the quality of their programs. Some are better than others. Some are better in some areas. Almost all of them of very good or outstanding quality. And for that you will spend 1/3 (or less) of what you would spend with an Ivy League university in the US. The Canadian dollar is cheaper than the US dollar, and so is the cost of living, in comparison to the cost of living in the US or the UK. Canada is a great country, with a sophisticated culture, and a very friendly environment. If you are not going to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Oxford or Cambridge, I can make a bet that there would be no difference in your return to your country in saying that you went to a top Canadian University or to Chicago, Pennsylvania, New York, Kings/Queen Mary College University of London. You will have an incredible experience in a G8 country. You will receive a marvelous education. Maybe you will feel some cold during the winter... but then you can do winter sports for warming up. :) Well, I could say that coming to Canada is all about cost-benefit. But in the end you will see that it is so much more than this...

Cheers.
