Hi there!
You will need to send your qualifications to the relevant authorities in Victoria for assessment. They will likely ask you to complete several courses within a standard Australian LLB/JD and also you will have to satisfy the practical requirements, most probably by completing the full 6 month Practical Legal Training Diploma with the College of Law (www.collaw.edu.au).
Hope this helps! Can't assist with more specific details regarding the LLB/JD component as I have not met indian students completing conversion courses whilst in law school.
Cheers,
greg

Hi! I am a South African citizen and completed my LLB degree in 2008. I am currently busy with my articles and would like to know if it is possible for me to work as a lawyer in Australia without completing my two year article period in South Africa.

Hello everyone, I hold Bachelor and Master of Law from Indonesia. I will be moving to Sydney next year since I plan to practice as a Lawyer there. I don't have any license yet to practice as a lawyer in my country Indonesia. With regard, do I have to re-undergraduate my Bachelor of Law in Sydney to be admitted to practice as a lawyer there?

Hello,
The both of you should be able to find your answers in earlier threads which have more or less discussed the same issues.
Basically, need to get your qualifications assessed and then fulfill the 'academic' and 'practical' requirements before you can practise in Australia. The procedure is more or less the same but the extent of exemptions would differ from one person to another!
Would be worthwhile to perhaps scroll through older posts.
Thanks!
Cheers,
G
