Guys,
Once you send in your formal acceptance, there should be a change in your status in the online graduate system from the current "physical application verified" to some other status signifying your acceptance. As and when that is done, you'll automatically become eligible to apply for hostel accommodation. If the same is not done within a few days of sending in your confirmation then please follow up with the admissions office so that they can update the information on the online system. I remember explaining this in one of my earlier posts. Nonetheless, hope this clarifies the doubts
Cheers

@Shivi .. great to have you at site.
Since they have clearly mentioned on the website that the demand far exceeds supply , can you find out what percentage of the LLM students usually find a place in the University hostels?? Just to know the probability of clinching one. The previous posts reg this appears to be not so encouraging.
Since the contents of the yesteryear posts maybe misleading or irrelevant in the present scenario, you may probably hop on to the Bukit campus over a weekend and get a first hand account of the ground realities from the running batch and revert back. You may list out the available Pvt Hostels/Apartments in the vicinity in the order of priority considering the facilities/proximity/costs etc. Thnx in advance.

Hi Guys, appended below extract from the NUS website which you maybe already aware..

xxxxx quote xxxxxxxx
With the present high demand for campus housing, Graduate students by Coursework are unlikely to be offered campus accommodation. It is advisable to budget for off-campus housing and source for one early. More information on off-campus housing can be found here.

Hi, so I'd also received an offer from NUS, but I really cant take the course unless I get some funding (either from NUS or other independent bodies that I have made applications to or from my past employers). Considering NUS is not offering scholarships, I am vigorously applying to other places. Besides, at the end I will go to the institute which does give me some funding (I have admission in a few as of now). In such a case, what should I tell NUS coz my acceptance is due by 20th April? Do they give extension for answering the offer? Can I retract my acceptance later on?

Also, I think they've given us a really tight schedule for accepting the offer.. Hmph.

@LLMie...As far as I know, unlike the MBA course at NUS, LLM course can not be deferred. If you can not make it due to financial issues, I guess just drop them an e-mail and see if they can give you a little more time; however, I don't feel that will be of much help. There are thousands of applicants waiting out there and yes, they do come up with a waiting list.

Though, education is a right and not a privilege, but that is how the world works. This right comes with a price!

@llm1993,
Congrats bro on having received the scholarship. The terms of the scholarship are that it only covers the tuition fee(s) and is only for the academic year for which it has been granted.
Once again congrats and hopefully see you there, do let us know which course you'lol be taking up at NUS, if at all.
Cheers

Hey guys,
I just confirmed my LLM in IBL. Can we get a count of how many have confirmed the IBL acceptance / are going to?
Would be helpful to figure out accomodation and stuff, seeing as we'll be shifting to Shanghai for the 2nd Semester.

There is no cap on the number of scholarships which they may give, it's a matter purely within their subjective domain, at least that's what the logical inference is from the collective info provided on their site as regards the scholarships
Hope this helps

Congrats LLM1993. Finally, someone on the forum got 1.

Alas, there will be no subsidized beers.

Hey Aswathy,

Good to hear from a future batch mate. One of my closest friends is doing the course right now and I discussed a lot with her about the course. Turns out we're kind of the last pick for hostel as @pulkit1283 and a couple of others put it. Especially the IBL folks as it's only the first semester and we compete with undergrad and exchange students.
She told me NUS sends us a list of pvt options (I'm sure it's the same list displayed on this thread) but cheaper and better accommodation can be found. I'll post on this forum once I hear back on the accommodation front.
Also, know anyone else confirmed for IBL?

Does anyone know the details of the Faculty Graduate Scholarship? I received an email stating that I had been awarded one, but the website won't open for me to check what that means.

Congratulation @llm1993!! :)

Just to check with you - after how many days/weeks did you receive this communication from the date NUS made the offer to you!

Hi. I have also accepted the offer to the IBL programme. As far as accommodation is concerned, a friend studying for the same course, currently in Shanghai has informed me that the dormitories in the ECUPL campus are not very clean and hygienic. He is currently staying in an apartment near the campus and has offered to ask his landlady to let me and my colleagues use the same house after he leaves. I am looking for colleagues intending to share an apartment with me. Still figuring out the formalities and expenses.

Hi Nivriti,
Good to hear from you. The way I hear it, it appears it might be best to stay in private shared residences for both semesters. About the accommodation in Shanghai, won't there be a break of 6-7 months after he leaves?
