Hi...I got an offer for Corporate and Financial Services...Can anyone through some light on accomodation and the living expenses?

For accommodation you must have already received an email from Utown (University Town). Its a hostel for all NUS students. Highly recommend staying here. The facilities you get here are just amazing. Dont worry about transport to the law campus. There is a NUS shuttle every half hour from the NUS main campus...Good luck

Hello everyone.

Congratulations to those who got accepted to NUS. All the best those of you.

I am a practising lawyer from Malaysia. I graduated with a 2.2 from a local university and I thought of upgrading my qualification to a LLM in Maritime Law.

My concern is should I give myself a shot at applying to Master of Laws in NUS? I have 5 years of legal practice experience. Would you think it will increase my chances or if there is any chance at all for me to get in?

Alternatively, I would opt for University of London International Programme. For NUS, I would have to sit for a fresh TOEFL exam while for UoL, I will get into as a practising lawyer without TOEFL since I sat for the International Baccaulaureate for my pre-law which was conducted in English hence exempted from TOEFL.

Any thoughts? Thanks ahead.

Classes usually start 9am earliest and end by 6pm, unless you are doing 'intensive classes which are usually 6.30pm to 9.30pm (but for a shorter period of time).

But the look of your final schedule totally depends on the combination of modules you pick. For example, one semester I had 9am-12 noon classes 4 times a week only. Another semester I had 12-3, 3-6, 6.30-930 on Monday and 12-3 on Thursday only.

Hey all,
Has anyone yet received an offer for the University town graduate residency? The amenities looked amazing. Unfortunately, my application was unsuccessful and I have no clue why:-) Anyone else whose application was unsuccessful and seeking to explore some options on the private housing market?
Best!

Hey!

Has anyone got the fee notification as yet? Any idea on what is the procedure for fee payment and loan matters. I understand OCBC has a tie up with NUS for international student loans. Any idea on the formalities for the same?

Thanks.

Hi anniek and athyd, my application was likewise unsuccesful and I don't know why. I guess we'd have to look into private housing options now.

I just have a few questions:
1. After we have been notified that our SOLAR application has been granted, do we still have to do anything to get the Letter of Authority or some other pass for immigration?

2. Is my understanding correct that we have to be in SG by July 31 for the registration?

3. Would anyone know what kind of dress code is prescribed for our program?

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback. It would be appreciated.

hi atfirst
You would also receive an IPA from the University which is equivalent to the Visa to speak of which will enable you to fly to Spore....that is valid for the period of 3 months during the period v need to get the visa ratified by the ICA auhtorities...

There is nothing like 31st July cut off to be in Spore.....

Good question abt the dress code.....am only gng by an Assumption that we would be there in our casuals....one year of formals again while being back in the school would be too much.....:-)

Hi athyd and scampi,

Thanks for your prompt replies, really helpful. I thought I read somewhere that the registration is on July 31-August 1 so I thought we had to be there already by July 31 (I would much prefer to arrive at a later date) so thank you for that clarification.

I guessed as much about the dress code and relieved to hear that it'll be casual considering the warm weather in SG.

You can arrive later than the 31th, just take an appointment with the ICA on their website when you arrive in Singapore, fast and easy!
