first of all ..we are entitled to work for about 16 hours a week on student visa.....once v r done...one of the options is to pick up an internship for sometime to gain exp n credibility....there are quite big names who comes for campus recruitment also....
Posted Apr 10, 2012 20:35
ok. thats good.
Posted Apr 10, 2012 20:38
Anyone has any idea abt the part-time work of 16 hrs. Are these on-campus jobs or off-campus? Plus I understand that the pay is on hourly basis. Any idea what is the average pay scale? Would we be able to spare 16 hrs in a week whilst doing the resp courses?
Posted Apr 11, 2012 04:34
I spoke to one of the admn guys at NU sometime back....they say the jobs range from cafeteria work to being a research scholar to a professor.....pay is not that great.....but should be a supplement to the pocket....would be extremely tough to work with LLM General cos we would have to clear about 40 credits in the given time....anything outside will come at a distance of atleast about 6 to 8 kms...
Posted Apr 11, 2012 04:47
40 credits is required even in specialisation. So nothing additional for LLM general. But anyways, I too feel, 16 hrs a week I.e. 3 hrs a day (excluding weekends) wuld be difficult to manage coz we would also have assignments, self-study etc..
Posted Apr 11, 2012 04:52
if u look at the admission form it says 24 for with specialisation and 40 for without specialisation sher..
Posted Apr 11, 2012 05:00
It means If one does specialisation, one has to complete atleast 24 credits out of the 40 credits from that field of specialisation..I.e. 24 credits of Specialisation subjects + 16 credits of any other subjects.. But for all it is 40 credits mandatory.. Let me know if any of u guys have a different opinion or understanding

Sher...here we go.....this is from the admission doc from NU site.....
"In order to obtain a specialization, students will have to complete 24 credits or 6 subjects (out of a possible 40 credits or 10 subjects) in a relevant subject area specialization. These students will then have the option of graduating with an LLM degree with the specific specialization indicated on their degree scrolls, or an LLM degree with no specialization indicated. Alternatively, students may opt from the outset to take any 40 credits of subjects and graduate with an LLM degree with no specialization. The latter option affords maximum flexibility in course selection according to the students individual preferences and interests."
