not sure about the fest night on august 4th tho.
ive received this cool calendar thing with all the daily events, although i dont think those interest me, is it implied that i can register all days from the 25th to 28th?

I am considering the night event on the 4th but I guess not the other ones.. Btw, some other information on general events, mostly lectures etc., has also been sent to the NUS myEMAIL account (at least I had some emails there) if somebody is interested in to look at those (you can log in with your email address which is your NUSNET ID@NUS.EDU.SG and the password is your NUSNET password).

another question:
can i book my appointment at ICA's offices before the matriculation?
i dont think there should be any problem since it's a separate matter...

Someone from the IBL programme staying at SIC?
Posted Jul 05, 2011 19:24
@imarkon - i think you need to be a registered student at NUS before you go to the ICA for the SP. I think I read somewhere that NUS would stamp your IPA letter, which you then give ICA.
Yeah none of the events other that the one on the 4th sound particularly interesting.. i do not fancy running around campus for the "amazing race" event, during the midday heat of singapore.

@imarkon - have u already registered at NUS?
Posted Jul 21, 2011 04:34
Hi guys! To those who will be taking the IBL programme, have any of you taken your medical examination in raffles or SGH? I took mine in raffles and it costs me $348 for all three medical examinations (NUS Pre-enrolment examination, ICA student pass examination, and the physical examination for foreigner). So expensive!

ok no, today i lost my whole day for nothing:
-went to ica (THEY ALLOWED ME GETTING AN APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY) and they told me i needed a stamp on my ipa letter, so i had to go central administration building in kent ridge campus
-went there, they tell me i have to go to law faculty administration to get this stamp. so there i go
-arrived at bukit timah , they tell me i have to wait for the matriculation days when i'll bring em all of the nus docs.
-went back to ica building to report all of this, and the kind clerk tells me to go back to her right after the matriculation on the same day so she can close my file.
i cant believe i couldnt get a stupid damn stamp on a sheet of paper.
it was an epic rage day, tons of hours wasted, and 22 dollars spent for taxis and running everywhere.

@ imarkon - wow, sounds like you've had quite the day! so this registration is the one on the 28th, yes? i think there's an ICA booth in KR Campus on the same day, so you wont have to go to the ICA building, you can just register at BT and then head to KR. Are you staying at UTown and is it nice?
I've decided on private accom now, and will be staying in owen road/dorset road area, which is about 20min from BT, so not too bad. Anyone else living out?
Only a few days to go now. The picnic event sounds better than the international even at KR, so i'm gonna show up for that instead. Anything else going on before that that anyone knows about?

ok no, on my mail its stated that i can register on the 27th so be it. after that i will soon run again back to the ICA and finish all my stuff. I hope they give me the SP/final visa/studentcard/whatever right on the spot that day.
i am still looking for private accom. i hate the idea of being bound by campus rules and dont wanna feel like im in prison, so, im still looking for private. today's my last day, then i will settle down with a plan B.
what kind of solution have you found instead? staying in a condo sharing a room or what?
yesterday i was at the orientation conference. it was really generic and boring even if the speakers tried to make it funnier, but was unbelievably sad. felt more like being at one of those mini-clubs in valtour villages than at a serious and respectable university.
they gave absolutely no relevant info except the fact that we can open a bank account +debit card with SG banks using our passport and student pass.

Ah - mine is on the 28th, it must be split by specialty courses. Are you in Utown right now? and is it that restricted?! I am staying in a 1-bed condo, and since my parents are in s'pore often for work it would work as a good substitute for hotels for them.
I arrive tmr morning and i guess will see everyone soon! good luck with registration.
