LLM Hong Kong

Louise

Hello,

I am a 30 year old Danish lawyer planning to do a LLM at HKU starting September 2007 (if I hopefully get in). My husband has been offered a job in Hong Kong which we have accepted. And I have always wanted to study (abroad) again.

However I have a little son and I am worried about the workload doing a LLM. Studying while having a toddler just is not the same as it used to bee.

My question is how much work is in general expected? (At HKU if anybody knows). Do people work 30, 40, 50 or 60 hours a week? I know it is a very general question but I really need to know how demanding the LLM course will be since I will not put my sons needs aside and work more than say maximum 40 hours a week.

I would be thankful for any advice I get.

Best regards

The LLM at HKU is not too demanding. They give you A LOT of reading materials for each class but the reading is generally not compulsory and many classes are assessed by paper only (no exam). If you need more information e-mail me at w00bf050@gmail.com

The Hong Kong LLM is considered to be full time if you do it within 2 years but a lot of people do it in one year without too much trouble so you could spread it out a little bit if you are worried about not spending enough time with your son.

Good luck with it, Hong Kong is a great city to live in.
