Hi,
I would like to enquire if I were to attain a LLB Degree under the UOL External Programme and thereafter qualify for the UK Bar, will I be eligible to be called to the Singapore Bar after practising as a lawyer in the UK for a number of years?
If I were to be eligible, how many years will I have to practise as a lawyer in the UK?

No, I don't think so. Only Malaysian or HK practitioners may convert...

Hi ya,
Unfortunately Singapore does not recognise UOL external programme for admission purposes.
Your university has to be one from the list of schedule universities under the Legal Profession Rules, Singapore before you may qualify.

You will not be allowed to be admitted to the Singapore Bar because you will not meet the requirements of being a 'qualified' person under the Legal Profession Act.
However, alternatively, you may apply and register as a Foreign Lawyer with the Attorney- General Chambers in Singapore after attaining your UK Bar qualifications. Thereafter, if you would like to practise Singapore Law, you may apply to pursue the Foreign Practitioner Examinations (FPE) and attain the Foreign Practitioner Certificate (FPC) which allows Foreign-qualified lawyers to practise some areas of Singaport Law such as Banking and Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Commerical and Corporate Law.
I am also looking into this route.
