Welcome!

Will be starting at UCL on the inter-collegiate LLM in Sep' 06. I will be adding a few posts over the coming months - RE: course, life in London etc...Four weeks to go!
By Jazzman on Aug 27, 2006
With about four weeks to go I'm finding myself torn between the different courses on offer. I know I intend to concentrate on media law but my remaining choices will be difficult to make.
Good tip for any intending Barristers: Join an Inn of Court early. I'm a member at Gray's and the education office are just excellent. They are prepared to give advice on CVs and applications for pupillages.
More Debt!!
By Jazzman on Aug 30, 2006
Took out a pretty huge loan today to put myself through the LLM and have already had to give a breakdown of finances for the BVC afterwards!! I hope its all going to be worth it in the end! - I'm sure it will be ;-)Accommodation & Registration
By Jazzman on Sep 12, 2006
A bit of a disappointment today, as I found out that I won't be getting accommodation from the start of term.
But have finally received registration materials - I was really getting quite worried about the time it was taking the Graduate Office to send this stuff out.
End of the inter-collegiate degree
By Jazzman on Sep 14, 2006
It does seem now that the Laws Faculty has confirmed, albeit still quietly, that this will be the last year of the inter-collegiate London LLM. Sad in a way I'm sure - there will certainly not be the same level of choice offered. I think it was inevitable that this would happen after the LSE withdrew some three years ago.
Still no announcement from the school about the structure of future LLMs
An interesting point is perhaps the fees. A friend who completed the LLM last year has told me that the fees have increased by almost £1,000. It appears that the college is attempting to catch up with the LSE which now charges over £8,000 and that's just for a home student like myself!! It might be a good idea for any intending applicants to apply asap!
