The Program

The European School of Law has three Master programmes fully taught in English:

Master's in Cross-border Disputes (2-year programme) | LL.M. Cross-border Disputes
This type of programme is a rare opportunity in France, as it aims at equipping graduates with the cross competences, reflexes, methodology and knowledge that are necessary to understand and become an expert in the internationalisation and europeanisation of private law. This programme covers conflict of laws principles in cross-border cases, international jurisdictions, litigation rules and arbitration with a view to providing the students with the tools needed to hold positions as lawyers in an international and European firms. Also accessible directly in the second year (LL.M.).

Master's in International Economic Law (2-year programme) | LL.M. International Economic Law

This degree aims at giving students a thorough knowledge of international economic legal issues. The programme also focuses on the study of the legal framework regulating the World Trade Organization, trade and economic relations in the European Union, and international economic development more generally. This programme offers a comparative perspective and focuses on methodology with a view to providing the students with the tools needed to hold positions as lawyers in an international and European context. Also accessible directly in the second year (LL.M.).

LL.M. International Aviation Law
The LLM International Aviation Law aims at offering strong expertise and appropriate solutions to aviation sector players. With over 410 hours of in-class teaching organized to fit continuing education participants’ schedules (one teaching week each month) and many academic and industrial partnerships (Airbus, ATR, Thalès, Air France...) this LL.M. is unique worldwide. It applies a strategic and interdisciplinary approach to the main legal challenges within this field and is designed both for graduate students and for top executives.

The University

Toulouse Capitole university is a public establishment which originated from the Faculty of Canon Law created in 1229 by King Saint Louis. Today, it is a Law, Economics and Management University whose priority is the emphasis on international networks so as to promote scientific collaborations as well as students’ and researchers-lecturers’ exchanges.

UT Capitole University has just been awarded the three-starred label « Welcome to France » which rewards its international outreach and more particularly the quality of the hospitality offered to its international students.

The Law School

The European School of Law Toulouse manages 18 double degrees with 16 partner universities accross Europe, Canada and USA, Master's of Law programs taught in English, such as the LLM International Aviation Law, the Master's/LL.M. International Economic Law and the Master's/LL.M. Cross-border Disputes as well as other university diplomas.

The School aims to train lawyers for Europe. It is based on a single principle: cultural, linguistic and legal diversity as elements of training, and student mobility as a means of building knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Criterias for the first year of each programme:
Required diplomas:
- hold a Law degree obtained in France OR a foreign degree in a legal discipline equivalent to 180 ECTS, i.e. Bachelor's degree, Licence or equivalent.
- Qualifications in other disciplines worth 180 ECTS minimum OR have significant professional experience in the field of the LL.M.'s programme applied for.

Communication skills:
- Proven knowledge of English (minimum B2, C1 for a mobility to Dundee)

Criterias for the second year of each programme:
Required diplomas:
- Successful completion of the 1st year of a Master’s degree in Law obtained in France OR a foreign degree in a legal discipline equivalent to 240 ECTS.
- Qualifications in other disciplines equivalent to 240 ECTS OR significant professional experience in some of the subjects taught on the course may also be considered.

Communication skills:
- Proven knowledge of English (minimum C1)

Criterias for both years of each programme:
Academics:
- A solid grounding in the fundamental areas of public and private law.
- Have an excellent academic record and an awareness of international and/or European issues

Skills:
- Ability to express yourself clearly orally and in writing in academic and legal English.
- Ability to work both in groups and individually.
- Ability to work independently and use legal documentation.
- Ability to use complex legal reasoning and a wide range of sources and knowledge.

Experience (non-cumulative conditions):
- Evidence of voluntary or community work experience and/or
- International experience (travel, study, training) and/or
- Experience in legal practice (internship, moot court, etc.)

Communication skills:
- Ability to write essays and dissertations in English
- Ability to read extensive or complex texts in English
- Ability to speak English fluently (presentations, seminar discussions, class participation)

Project motivation and coherence:
Alignment of the degree with the applicant's career goals and/or plans for personal and professional development.

Admission to the Master's programme depends on the number of seats available and is subject to an examination of the candidate's file.

Cross-border Disputes & International Economic Law programmes:

International Aviation Law programme:
- €6,000 for intitial training
- €9,000 for alternate training

Location

Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Oean, in the heart of Southern France and close to the Pyrenees mountain range, the Midi-Pyrenees region has long been a major crossroads in Europe. Accommodation

With over 130.000 students (10% international) Toulouse is one of the most famous students friendly cities in France. Looking for accommodation can sometimes be complicated though. Indeed, housing market in Toulouse is competitive and demand is often higher than supply. Even if this offers the advantage of a reduced notice period of one month, reactivity and anticipation will be two key assets in finding accommodation.
