On a slightly different note, who here is applying straight out of undergraduate study i.e. who is going to graduate this summer?

hey you guys, need you point of veiw here.

you see, i didn't really answer the statement question since i couldn't. the topic that i pointed out is the one that i'd like to conduct research on and untill i do so i can't seem to find a solution. so what chances do you think i stand in getting admitted.

I am hoping that they will take into consideration of much more than just a miss written essay.

what do you all think?

I don't think "finding a solution" is really the key. What they are looking for, I presume, is whether you can analyze a problem, propose a methodology to study it etc. I offered no solution either, because I don't have one. In legal philosophy or legal history, there rarely is a definite solution, and the admission committee knows it. They are looking for analytic reasoning and some writing skills, not solutions.

My essay was on the US opposition to the International Criminal Court and arm-twisting the Security Council to exclude jurisdiction of the Court over US troops. The topic made it possible for me to suggest a solution in international law.
