My application was complete February 6th and I got in February 12th. I turned in a deposit a while ago, so I withdrew my applications from NYU, GULC, UF, Boston, and Miami.

See you guys in September!

I'm very anxious about their fellowship decision too...Since their deadline is April 10, does it mean I can wait without paying my deposit up to that day?

What do your guys think about that legal english seminar?

May I ask whether NU has granted any scholarship to anybody so far? I mean, need-based, merit-based or whatsoever other fellowship, award, teaching/researching assistantship? I knew that decisions are expected by April 10, but I can't wait that long

I sent them an e-mail today and did not receive any response yet..
I am also anxious about that...does anybody know the average grant they give to those selected? 10K, 20K??
Do they give grants to a substantial portion of the students??
thanks

I wish to apply to Northwestern next year - and I will have an year's experience by then. Would that be sufficient for Northwestern. Any clue as to what it most focuses on while admitting students.
And which is better for Business Laws - NYU or NW

Hi guys,

I am from India and practising for a corporate law firm for 3 years now. I have got admitted into NU and I am most likely to go there.

But at the same time I have also got an admission to Warwick for the ICGFR LLM course. And my sole interest is to specialise in corporate laws and thereafter try to stick on abroad either in the U.S. or U.K by just doing an LLM and not a J.D. I do know that NU is really famous for corporate law, but what would you say about the course at Warwick considering it is really specialised. I have also got an admit to queen mary.

So I have just one question:

Leaving aside the monetary aspect of an LLM, do global law firms value an LLM from the U.S more than a U.K. LLM, assuming for a moment that the LLM is not from the best in the business such as SLS, HLS, YLS, CLS (USA) and Oxford, Cambridge & LSE.(UK). Cause here for me its more of a comparison between good colleges in the U.S such as NU, USC, Boston, Virginia versus Warwick and Queen Marry.

Btw Congrats to all of you on your admissions and best of luck.

Thanks in advance.

all I'd say is that as a UK student, it is commonly understood that there is a wide gulf between Oxbridge and the rest, not just in reputation but actual quality. You can argue all you want but you cannot deny it. That said many employers like to hire from a wide range of universities, although for the top firms i suspect it's still significantly pro-Oxbridge.

on the other hand, in the USA I suspect the gulf is considerably smaller.

so, e.g., if you asked someone if they thought if NU was a better law school than Queen Mary or Warwick, I think the answer would be fairly obvious.

Loop.....thanks a lot for the advice....the reason I asked this question was becos I have friends who have done LLM's in the U.S and got placed in U.K during the recessional period. So I was just wondering if U.K firms appreciates a U.S. LLM more than their own LLM's. Anyway u hav given me some clarity of thought. Thanks

sorry, but you cannot compare NU to Queen Mary, or Warwick either...even BU is worthing more than Queen Mary. Besides, NU is for sure among the top 5 for corporate and business law. hope you'll join us in Chicago next fall.

I'd like to get the reasoning behind that!

don't know if I was the one who wrote the sentence you quoted, but I totally endorse such statement anyway. BU is among the best school for its program in taxation...

given the number of tax programs, "among the best" is far from being an impressive guarantee

anyway I didn't mean to be aggressive but I really don't see how one could make this kind of statement about the difference between bu & qm !
