What happen if you withdraw the LLM if your SJD application is approved?

ypm

So, here is the thing.

I´ll probably apply for LLM and SJD in Columbia and the LLM in NYU.

The main issue is that the dates decisions are different from each program, probably it would be something like this:

1st LLM NYU - March

2nd LLM Columbia - March

3rd SJD Columbia - May (!!)

Of course If I´m accepted to all, I would take the SJD program, but I don´t think NYU would wait until May for me answer. "Hey, NYU, I´m just waiting for a better offer".

What a person would do in this situation? Do we have to pay any fines, especially considering that I´ll need a schoolarship.

Thanks in advance.

thats simple: if you get into nyu and columbia llm than give up nyu llm and explain the situation to columbia. If anyone is going to grant you an extendet period to decide it is the uni which you are waiting for in the first place. Even though I expect them to say that you should do the llm and than apply for the next year for the jsd. but well it is you best chance.

on the other hand, if columbia llm does not want you , you can be sure that you are not good enough for the jsd programm for them. So you have your decission...
