Anyone living in Santa Monica and attending USC?

I would definitely love to live in Santa Monica, by the beach, but I would also like to keep the commute below 30 minutes and not spend hours in my car every day. Is that possible? I assume it is possible to avoid rush hours as a student, but it probably depends on which classes one is attending.
