Hello,

I have read a number of threads on here about people in somewhat similar situations to my own, but nothing lined up perfectly so I figured I would put my exact situation up for review.

I am a US citizen and a recent graduate of Princeton University with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. I realized about halfway through that I did not actually want to pursue Engineering as a career, but I am stubborn and graduated with the degree anyway because the job prospects were decent in other fields. I have always been interested in law, and have been looking into US law options. My GPA is not stellar but based on a couple practice LSAT's I should be able to make up for it a bit.

I have been considering my options for a while and have recently been exploring the idea of attending law school in the UK. I have one friend who is just about to complete the one-year GDL at City in London and another who was just accepted to an graduate LLB program at Queen Mary. Both of these two graduated from Ivy-league schools.

I would like to have the option to practice law in the UK but ultimately I think I would like to return to the US. I have read that in NY (where I would most like to practice anyway) I would be able to sit for the bar without further education if I had an LLB, but that my hiring prospects would be better if I attended one of the 1 or 2 year programs at an ABA accredited school. How would an LLM from a school like NYU look to law firms?

I am basically wondering whether this educational path is feasible, or whether I am getting myself into more trouble/debt than it's worth. I would appreciate any input. Thanks.
