I'm a graduate from an Austrian law school seeking law ed in the US.. does anyone have experience with the LLM program at USD?? I definitely wanna stay and practice in the US after graduating, most likely in the San Diego area. would you consider the education/reputation being good enough to be hired in a decent law firm or would you recommend any other school in California instead?
thanks, peter

First off, I am not really familiar with USD's LLM program or their placement rate for foreign trained lawyers. Also, it is hard to answer your question since you didn't mention what area you want to specialize in.
With that said, I am familiar with USD's JD program and the San Diego legal market. San Diego is an absolutely wonderful city with a pretty small legal community (compared to Los Angeles or San Francisco). USD has a very good reputation in the San Diego area (it's the best law school there), but I would really suspect that UCLA, Stanford, and USC would probably give you a much easier time finding a job. For LL.M programs, USD seems best known for their tax--if you are doing tax, then USD may be best if you want to stay in San Diego. If you want another specialty, I would probably look at some of the better schools.

USD is the best law school in SD.
Living in SD is wonderful, at least that's what one of my friends told me (he is Mexican, but studied art in SD). And the climate is fantastic of course...

thanks for your replies. well, since I'm a foreigner, I'd have to do the LLM in comparative law (which, according to the school, they are known for) and choose among the JD's courses. I want to look into bankruptcy, corporate, real estate and prob tax.
I love San Diego, that's why I wanna study and live there. I heard about the great reputation in the SD area and that one out of four attorneys graduated from USD, but since everybody is talking about UCLA, Berkeley or whatever I'm not so sure anymore if I should spend that much money on a USD-LLM.
