U Penn vs Cornell

UPenn is higher in rankings, and near NYC. I believe that Cornell is better known in Europe. So your choice should depend largely on where you want to practice afterwards: US or Europe, and alson on what kind of life you want when a student in the US (not because NY is closer cos' I am not sure you' ll go much more often to NY cos' the drive is less long; but cos' Philly is definitively a more happening place than Ithaca).

What about the job prospect in the US for someone from UPenn ? Is it comparable or much better than someone from Cornell ?

1. The job opportunities for LL.M. students are very limited. If you want to secure a permanent position in a US law firm, do a JD.
2. However a Cornell LL.M. 2005 (a French applicant ... we're priviledged :-) works now in a top 3 US firm. Nothing is impossible. I guess it's a matter of luck, timing, and what you can bring to the firm.

Just found out from a magazine in France that Cornell is not in the top 10 of their ranking. Upenn is.

Hi, my friends
It is the first time that I use discussion board.
I have been addmitted to NYU and the confirmation dealdline is May 1. However, I prefer to go to a place like Cornell.
I am not as fortunate as some of you - just get the indication from Status Check that there is a "decision". I called the admission office. The most confusing thing is that the madam I spoke to told me the decision that they have made is to put me on waiting list ----- they are likely to make their decision in two weeks depending on availability of seats.
Is this because the madam has not been updated with the decision of the admission committee or waiting is also a decision in the sytem of Cornell. Although I still have about 20 days for NYU, I hope to settle down as early as possible. Obtaining visa to US also takes time to prepare in China (mainland).

I have got further explanation by email from Cornell that I will receive a letter in about 10 days confirming that I has been put on waiting list.
I will wait until I had to go to NYC.
Thanks for your attention
