Dear All;
I received admission letters to both U-Penn and Virginia LLM 07 classes.
Which of these law schools should I choose?

I think you can't go wrong either way. I would personally choose UPenn over Virginia, as I think it has a better reputation (better ranked on US News) and it's Ivy. But of course, that is just my opinion, and you have to check the course offering, etc.

I disagree. Virginia has a better ranking in all three categories on Brian Leiter's law school rankings (Faculty, Students, Supreme court clerk placements). I am not sure whether being an ivy-league school is terribly important. Some ivies are mediocre institutions. But your choice should really depend on your study plan: Which has better professors, more courses on this that etc.

Are Brian Leiter's law school rankings more important and decisive than US News Rankings?

It depends. I believe they are more reliable if you are assessing the academic quality of different law schools. On the other hand, I presume that law firms use primarily US News rankings. I have been told, though, that Virginia graduates do get pretty good offers from law firms, but this is only hearsay. Once again I want to emphasize that your main criteria should be 1) what do you plan to study? 2) with whom would you like to study?. Besides, both are great schools, so don't think this too hard:)
