I tend to differentiate between feeling and what I write to other people. It seems like a recruiter would have access to that information anyway, otherwise he wouldn't recruit you.

I also received the same email and was really upset about this leak. Whether you think this is normal or « not terrible » is based on your personal perspective. The fact that a law school is sending around my personal data is something that I am greatly concerned about and my wish for privacy should have been respected.
I am deeply disappointed with the university of Chicago.

Whoa! The administration at these top schools is really tired of their job this year huh?! I am still not over how Northwestern offered me admission only to tell me a few hours later that it was a clerical mistake and I’m waitlisted! Imagine my emotions!!!!

I was also deeply disappointed with Chicago Law. I replied to the email and they are not responding yet.. I think (prospective) lawyers like people here should not take something like this understandable. This is leak of personal information and it is a serious problem. I still can't believe one of the best law schools in US made such a mistake.

This is exactly what I am worried about. We are the same group people competing for jobs and LLM offers in other law school.

That's bad. It is quite unfair that UChicago admitted students have all information about us but we do not have the same information about them. The people who applied UChicago are pretty much the same group of people who applied other T14 law schools, and also the same group of people who will compete in NY job fair or for other job opportunities.

That is why laws like the GDPR from EU are so important. I feel ashamed by the so-called 'lawyers' in this thread that do not see the seriousness of this leak.

The leak is certainly serious, and must be treated this way.

Imagine the information that you can "extract" after analyzing this spreadsheet.

The leak is so harmful to the school as much as it's harmful to the applicants.

I had access to the information leaked regarding myself, and I must say there is nothing there that I haven’t disclosure on my likedin page.

There is no comment regarding why I was not accepted or any other information that could possibly harm me.

I believe Richard is extremely sorry about everything...

Jesus, 297 recipients... I'm just feeling so sad that we are talking about data protection/privacy all day at law school, but when a law school infringe your privacy, you can do nothing and that law school did nothing

an excerpt from the mail I got back (finally):

The document was inadvertently attached to an email that went to 297 recipients. All were applicants to the LLM program for the Fall of 2019. The Dean of the Law School has written to all the people who received that information and asked them to both delete the message and attachments, and confirm that they have done so. Those confirmation messages are coming back to the Law School daily.
