I recently received an email from U Chicago that it inadvertently sent an email to admitted LLM applicants with an attachment including very detailed personal information of EVERY applicant. From my admitted friends, the attachment contains like contact info, GPA, TOEFL, etc. This is INTOLERABLE!!! U Chicago should do something instead of just saying apologies and requiring those admitted students to delete the attachment, which is obviously USELESS.

I also seriously doubt someone from these people would misuse your contact information for any malevolent end. you should know that it is far beyond 80 people as usually law school send offer to far more applicants in case of rejection. Also, it is NOT people that you are NOT familiar with, they ARE your classmates, your colleagues as legal industry is a small circle. soooooooo disappointed!

I got the same e-mail. It is really irrelevant. Let´s say about 100 people receive some of your info. These people are from countries you probably never been into and probably do not care about you. Most likely, most of them deleted the e-mail. I really don´t care if they got such information. I mean, what are they going to do with it if they do not know who I am?

I think people complaining about their personal information being leaked is absolutely understandable. When I got the email from the Dean(which was 3 days after the leak) I realized something went wrong and checked the file to see what information of mine was disclosed. I definitely didn’t want my grades or scores to be disclosed, and there were some people whose additional personal information was leaked with comments too. The school wouldn’t be able to undo what happened already, but I was baffled that it took so long for the school to take an action, and that a short single email was all that the school can do. It was really unprofessional and disappointing. I don’t think it’s appropriate to judge someone as spoilt or lack self control here at all.

I tend to differentiate between feeling and what I write to other people. It seems like a recruiter would have access to that information anyway, otherwise he wouldn't recruit you.
