I was wondering whether foreign LLM students like myself are eligible for summer associateships at US law firms, or whether these where only for JD gradutates and US citizens.

I also wanted to know how tough competition for places on an associateship are.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I wondered if you knew what my chances of getting an associateship in summer 2010 were like?

I am an Oxford graduate student (BA Jurisprudence and am currently studying for the BCL. I was hoping to complete the NYU LLM next year and to pay off some of that debt through a summer associateship.

Some LLMs get summer associate positions every year. I imagine with a first from oxford (guessing from the fact you are on the BCL) at undergrad and the BCL will put you in a very strong position as against the other LLM applicants.
