SLS waitlist

Nail

Hi guys,
I just received an email from SLS placing me on the waiting list. I decided I am not going to remove my name from it, for I have also been waitlisted by HLS and will wait for my destiny in the next 1 and 1/2 month anyways.
I know that this is a desperate and perhaps hopeless group, but let's open it just for fun, to discuss chances and share possible insights about admissions.

The thing about Stanford is that the class is so small that admitted students usually do not think twice about taking it. I was on the waiting list as well a few years back but never got a chance to actually be admitted...You will have probably more chance with Harvard.

Oh my Nail you're jinxed. Being wait-listed at BOTH that's IMHO even worse than being rejected! I sincerely hope things will brighten up, but the odds are against you :(

Were I in your shoes, I'd almost be tempted to call them and explain the situation in hope of inspiring pity and get moved to the top of the waiting list.

Lol... no worries, I am not that stressed about it: even if I gain acceptance, I think I am going to defer to next year (hoping this would be possible for applicants admitted from the waitlist). And if I don't, I am still glad I applied since this has been a good way to test my chances. However, I understand that for someone who definitely wants to do the LLM next year the waitlist is an hassle.
I am wondering...how many people do they put on the waitlist in SLS? I think in HLS the number should be around 30, equal to the number of admitted students that exceeds the number of slots available (I have been told they send out 180 offers for 150 slots). Perhaps in SLS it's about 10? I thought this could be a reasonable number: considering the ratio of accepted students bw HLS and SLS (10:1), and provided my guess about the HLS waitlist is correct, the number of people in the SLS waitlist should be 3. However this may be too low in practical terms, therefore just to be sure they would include 3 times 3= 9 applicants, which could be rounded up to 10. What do you think?
