Scholarships and other Resources

Hi All,

I am an applicant from India for the 2006 LLM Program. I found this an extremely useful and informational site. From what I noticed the number one issue facing students applying is how to raise the finances required for the program. I have included a list of scholarships that I applied to. I hope the next batch of students find it useful. I would urge other students to post information about other scholarships that are out there so that there is greater awareness among prospective students.

Fulbright Case Law Fellowship (India Specific) : 2 scholarships in IP and ADR

The grant will provide a monthly stipend, health insurance, round-trip economy class air travel, modest settling-in and books and supplies allowances, and tuition fees.

Fulbright-Vanderbilt Fellowship in Clinical Legal Education

NYU LLM Program:
http://www.nyulawglobal.org/graduateadmissions/scholarship/hauserglobalscholarsprogram.htm
The Hauser Global Scholars Program is a scholarship program open to applicants who are admitted to the LL.M. program. Candidates must be graduates of a law school outside of the United States. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are not eligible.
Selections are made on the basis of merit without regard to financial need. The Hauser Global Scholarship provides full tuition for one academic year for the LL.M. program, reasonable living expenses including rent, and the cost of textbooks and other study materials. Hauser Global Scholars will pursue their chosen program of graduate study but will complete 26 credits for the degree. Hauser Global Scholars will also be expected to participate in special programs and events scheduled throughout the year.
In addition to completing the application for admission to the LL.M. program (including a personal statement), candidates must submit the three questions described in the application: 1) Briefly describe a current legal dilemma, controversy, or issue facing a country, a region, or the world and suggest a strategy you would use to address the problem (500 words); 2) Describe the most gratifying experience in your legal education and career (250 words); 3) List two ways you would expect to contribute to NYU School of Law as a Hauser Global Scholar. Please attach electronically your essay to your online application.
Those who are selected for a Hauser Scholarship will receive notification with their offer of admission. Candidates who are not awarded Hauser Scholarships will automatically be reviewed for Grotius or Vanderbilt Scholarships.
Do check out the other scholarships offered as well
Hugo Grotius and
Arthur T. Vanderbilt Scholarships
Ronald Dworkin Scholarship
Hans Kelsen Scholarship
Fernando de los Ríos Scholarship

By the way, Columbia Law School offers two scholarships :
a.) Appel Scholarship for Transnational Law and
b.) A human rights scholarship.
Be sure to check those questions in your admission form.
Please do add to my rather skeletal list of scholarships available And for those curious the list of colleges I applied to were Harvard, Yale, Columbia, NYU and the Fulbright for IPR at Case Western.
