Hi guys,
I have a question and would really appreciate your thoughts. I do not want to give specific names of the universities to make sure that you are not biased :-)
I have received several offers from great law schools. Some have really big names and others are elite law schools as well but do not have the same reputation in my homecountry (but they have a great rep in the states and there is no doubt that they are really good). Just for the record: All schools are T14.
While I have been in touch with all my final choices I have realized that some schools show a little bit more effort then others. While I only talk to the admission office at some schools (with the big names) others are involving the prof. as well. I am just in touch with two schools where the prof. themself are advising me in different topics. Asking me about specific issues. They already know a lot about my background and my interests (they know things which I only mentioned in a single word in my CV).
So would you go for the name? Or would you go for the other program (the one you have a really good feeling about)? And the difference on the ranking is about 9 spots...
I just have the feeling that the "big players" believe that their "brand" is enough. I mean somehow they might be right, but I just have the feeling that this effort is worth a lot.
Does anybody who is attending (or has attended) a big school (lets say T5) have any thoughts? Did you guys have a good relationship to the prof.? I believe that it will be hard for them to know all of the incoming 120 LL.M. applicants, right?
Thank you guys.
