I have been accepted to Harvard Law School LLM Program beginning in August 2007. However due to certain personal circumstances it more appropriate to postpone it for year 2008.

Does any one know if it is possible and/or recommendable to postpone it for next year? Do you think I will get a negative response from the admissions board? Do you know if get financial aid if theyll maintain it next year?

I have also been admitted to HLS earlier this week and I am also considering to apply for a deferral due to personal reasons.

Two friends of mine were granted a deferred admission for one year at HLS few years ago - it seems then to be possible. I think it all comes to the justification - I am not sure e.g. whether the argument that you want to seek for additional funding will work.

Anyway, I am waiting for the admission package now and will make up my mind by Easter.
