Hi Everyone,
I am an Indian and I want to study in the US.I want to pursue teaching as a career. I realised it just now while filing for applications. I have applied in Singapore and New York University for Corporate Law but frankly my heart doesnt want to pursue it. But the problem is that I am not sure which subject interests me the most and the deadlines are coming close, if I wish to pursue teaching. I like constitutional law and Human Rights and torts and international law, stuff that makes a difference...academic stuff..and m hard working too and I love to research. What should I do?? I dont want to end up with a subject that may be a mistake later on. Should I apply for a General LLM? Is it going to be feasable in USA? Atleast I will know what interests me the most and pursue my Phd in that. But, If i change my mind later on. Can I still practice in USA? aftr the bar? Is a general LLM given importance in US even though it is not area specific?
Plz Help Me!
Please Please Guide me

yes, you should apply for a general llm. it will still allow you to work in the US if you eventually want to pursue that option. you can definitely still pursue a JSD afterwards with a general LLM. a general LLM is given importance in the US even if it is not in a specific area. no one will reject your job application simply because your LLM is not in a specific field.
having said that, i have to say that i don't think you have to study constitutional law because you want to make a difference and because you love research and because you are hard working and because you love it. you can study corporate law and still make a difference. corporate law is very academic, calls for hard work, and is loved by many people, including myself. the world needs dedicated scholars, thinkers, professors, practitioners in corporate law as much as it does constitutional law. you don't just have to study constitutional law to make a difference. you can make a difference in anything that you study or do.
