this post is inspired by a similar topic last year. Since the application periods for most schools are already done, im curious as to what topic most people wrote about in their personal statements.

Restraints on judicial review in a developing country.

Excuse my ignorance, but shouldn't you write about yourself, your experiences and what you could bring to the course rather than a legal problem in a personal statement?

I thought that mini-essays on legal issues should be restricted to questions like "describe a legal problem in your country etc..." rather than personal statements.

Thoughts on restraints on judicial activism developed while assisting in constitutional litigation in a developing country and analyzing the same developments while heading its law journal, and what I would like to do with those thoughts in the next decade or two.

Some institutions mix the "why do you want an LLM" and "write an essay on a key legal issue" questions, making it a tad trickier.
