Does anyone have any thoughts on the benefits of a BCL/LLM from Oxford/Cambridge for someone trying to become a law professor in the U.S.? I have currently applied to the top tier LLMs in the U.S. plus Oxford and Cambridge. I would honestly prefer to go overseas, but I am going to accept the offer that would put me in the best position to teach in the States.

Many law schools like YALE and U PENN give special preference to students seeking LL.M admission because of academic interests as compared to 'practce/legal profession'. If you aim at teaching in USA, it will be better to pursue LL.M in USA.

I'm not sure an ll.m on its own would be enough to enter legal academia in the U.S. (it *might* be if you have lots of work experience) most law professors have J.Ds and the foreign ones have PhDs / J.S.Ds
