OK so am I the only shmuck that has not heard back from a school?

OK so am I the only shmuck that has not heard back from a school? I applied in March and have not heard peep since then!!!
Is there any body else out there in my position?
Does it mean that I am rejected? Why wont they just tell me that and put me out of my misery!??
I tried asking them but they r saying that a decision has not been made. I mean what could possibly take so long? It is either yes or no. Right?
Well, if there is anybody out there who has not heard back from a school let me know.

No, you arent the only one. I almost posted the same question yesterday.

I finally received an email from Northwesterns tax program this afternoon. I am still waiting to hear from Florida.

Has anyone heard anything from FL recently?

Hopefully, I will hear from them next week.

Good Luck.

UF were accepting applications until June 1st. I applied just a week and a half ago. I guess they need some time to consider the new applicants. Probably answers will come shortly. I hope to get in. See you there. Good Luck!

Georgetown called me Friday and I started jumping up and down only to tell me they needed me to send them my transcripts from my last semester

Florida still told me nothing

Very frustrating and VERY annoying. I have someone in Chicago waiting on me to decide so I can take or not take her apartment since Northwestern accepted me

I am almost tempted to email them next Monday and tell them to decide either way.

Linked,

That sucks. I am in a similar position but with different schools. I sent my application to GT, UF and NW all at the same time (around the middle of March).
I was accepted at GT and have begun making the tuition payments and I need to begin the apartment hunt, but I really want to be at UF next year. Every morning I think about sending them an e-mail saying, either accept me now or withdraw my name from consideration. Then I remind myself that the wait will be over soon and I bite my tongue. ..it is very frustrating! Best of luck.

hey guys
It is nice to know that there are others out there who have not yet heard back
It is really frustrating, opening ur email everyday with a hope that maybe today might be the day and then the disappointment when u realize there is no mail from the school!
I have to admit that I too have been tempted to tell them (GW btw) that they either accept me or reject me. It can't be worse than the anticipation. but then again, I keep hoping that maybe just maybe the reason they have not rejected me yet is to admit me...blah blah

Anyway, good luck to those who are still waiting!

I know what you mean. I was accepted to Miami but really want to go to UF so I've been holding off on accepting financial aid and looking for a place to live. I think I'll give them until the end of June and then just make the arrangements for Miami.

At times, I feel like I am harrassing the UF/GT people

Sometimes they tell me to call back the following Friday, other times they do not

But, still....no response and it really is getting annoying

My father works at a Law School and is on their admission committee so I understand what they are doing and WHY they wait for some kids

But....I mean, the time has come to let kids know

Hi,
Can you explain what you mean by "wait for some kids"? Does anyone know what the size of the entering class is? And how many seats are left open at UF and GT?

By the way, when GT called you to submit your last semester's grades, did your online status already say "complete"? If so, I would see that as a good sign... meaning that you are almost accepted, but they just want to confirm that you finished up with decent grades.

LinkedS- what concentration did you apply to?

i havent read the whole thread but have you guys tried calling the school? i was under a similar situation when i was applying for llms (i had one offer and i needed to pay a deposit to hold on to it and the second school was taking way too long) - and at least the admissons people can give u a clearer idea as to when they'll get back to you and whether there are any real reasons for the delay. it makes the wait a lot easier. Best of luck!

I called UF around Mid-May and was told that I would know by the end of the month. The end of the month came and I didn't hear so I tried calling again but was told that the full committee had to review my file and they didn't know how long that would take.

Don't you dudes or dudettes have jobs so that you do not spend all of your time waiting for Gadot?... which by the way he did come.

I gotta tell you though, and I know rankings are important for the mass, your degree is as good as what you do with it. I know a few LLM attorneys, from top 6 LLM tax programs, that spend their days, as sole practitioners, doing trusts and wills. On the other hand, if you are looking for big firm positions or in-house positions in a corporate tax dept. that is entirely different. I must say, however, I do not come across many who like to spend time litigating in tax court and handling other IRS disputes.

Nothing yet, last week I called UF and they told me that I can expect a decision by next Monday (yesterday) and as you can can imagine, nothing. The mailman talk to me with the pepper spray in the hand. hahaha. Hopefully by this week.

But those who haven't herd nothing yet please post your stats. May be we can see why they take so long to decide.

I really don't have tax experience; my Law School it's not ranked but it's ABA approved; my class rank is 12/112 and recently I passed the PR Bar and the CPA exam. I will take the FL bar in July. I only applied to UF.

I graduated from a top 100 law school in the top 3rd with a 3.1 GPA. I passed the NJ bar, had an internship with the IRS and spent a summer working on nonprofit tax issues. I didn't get into NYU but I hope these stats are good enough for UF, otherwise I'll be headed for Miami.

NJTAXATT - I think you should not have any problem to get in at UF. When I talked with Mr. Friel, he was so obssesive with the work tax experience. And you have it. So don't worry for you it's a matter of time. Good Luck!!

NJ... just something consider....

UF is in the Ocala area. UM, of course, is in the Miami area (Coral Gables to be exact). If you intend to work while in school, what are the job prospects in or near Ocala versus the Miami area? In Miami, there are plenty of firms involved in tax, and especially international tax given its link to South America.

If interested in workin' while learnin', you may want to read The Florida Bar News. Yes, it is online and there is an employment section. The Florida Bar website also links you to it. Good luck.

Thanks AOH_PR, I hope your assumption is correct.

Channellocks, thanks for the info about finding work in Florida. I thought about working while going to school but I don't know how realistic that would be if I'm going to school full-time. At most I'll probably work part-time. Also, since I'm not admitted to practice in FL, I don't think I'll be able to get a legal position while I'm in school.
