NYU vS. Georgetown

subslaw

Hi everyone,
I have been admitted to Georgetown,Northwestern,Georgewashington and NYU. But my confusion is between Georgetown and NYU. I dont have funding from either of these places and have been admitted for their Intl Legal Studies programme. Can anyone help me in this. I am from India and would like to work in the US for a few years after my LLM.
Thanks

I read somewhere that Georgetown´s LLMs weren´t recommended for the BAR (I think it was their own site). I´m not sure if you can work without being admitted to the BAR. Maybe international organizations don´t require it...

You can still take the NY bar if you do your LLM at Georgetown - they have a list of courses that are suitable for the 2 "basic" courses you need, and all the other courses are fine.
I think they are just covering their backs by saying that doing an LLM at Georgetown will not guarantee you eligibility for the NY bar - but we know that. It depends on acceptance by the NY Bar Exam Board; but you will be accepted provided you have the requisite law degree from your own country or whatever you need, plus the LLM

Both are great universities. I´ve seen that a lot of foreign attorneys in US firms have done their LL.M.´s at NYU. The only thing that I don´t like about NYU is the number of students that they admit each year. Close to 400 is too much!
