I read the discussion on NYU vs. Columbia vs. U-Penn. As far as I understood it really is a matter of interest; and that is my problem. I am admitted to both LLM programs and planned to focus on international law. So everybody says NYU, definitely. But when looking at the courses offered and the faculty members I am not so sure anymore. Is it all about names or is there more to it? May be this additional information might be useful: I am especially interested in international economic law as well as international dispute resolution. If anybody has some helping ideas or comments please let me know. Thanks a lot!

I have the same problem and similar interests. After I spoke to some NYU LLM-students, I think I will go for Columbia. For example, Andreas Lowenfeld is (allegedly) a horrible lecturer.
Robert Howse, who has been visiting from Michigan, will not be visiting this fall, I think. Koskenniemi will lecture at Cambridge, not NYU.

So did you get an admission decision from NYU already?
I was rejected from Columbia and I still have some hopes for NYU...
Good luck to all and thanks for the answer in advance!

I received the admission decision from NYU two weeks ago but since I practice in Capital Markets and Securities I will go for Columbia.
Good luck on your admissions!

If I'm not wrong, Howse is now an NYU hire. But check that against the NYU Law homepage -- I may have got that wrong.
For IEL, Alvarez is at Columbia.

His publication list seems pretty up to date, so at least there has been some activity there lately.
